Day-1 Arrival in Ölgii | City Introduction & Cultural Experience

Upon your arrival at Ölgii Airport, you will receive a warm welcome from your professional English-speaking guide and driver. Afterwards, you will be taken to your hotel for check-in, allowing you to unwind after your journey.

In the afternoon, your adventure will commence with a visit to the local museum, where you will learn about the rich cultural heritage, history, and unique natural landscape of the Bayan-Ölgii region. After the museum, you will have the chance to stop at a local souvenir shop to find authentic handmade crafts and traditional items.

If time allows, we will proceed to Nairamdal (Peace) Peak for a brief and gentle walk. From the summit, you can take in panoramic views of Ölgii town and its picturesque surroundings.

In the evening, you are invited to a welcome dinner at one of the town's popular local restaurants, where you can savor regional specialties.

Day-2 Khoton & Khurgan Lakes | Scenic Altai Landscapes

After we finish our breakfast, our adventure begins as we head towards one of the most stunning areas of Western Mongolia — the untouched Khoton and Khurgan Lakes, located amid the grand Altai Mountains close to the Chinese border.

Our drive will take us through dramatic and constantly changing landscapes, featuring mountain passes, expansive valleys, and beautiful viewing points. We will take several scenic breaks for photography and savor the region's natural beauty. A local-style lunch or packed meal will be enjoyed along the way.

Even though the journey is lengthy, it is incredibly fulfilling, showcasing some of the most breathtaking and unspoiled landscapes in Mongolia.

By the late afternoon, we will reach the shores of Khoton Lake, where we will establish our camp in a serene setting embraced by alpine wilderness and snow-capped mountains.

Day-3 Horse Riding Experience | Nomadic Culture

After having breakfast, we get ready for an unforgettable horse riding adventure. Mongolian horses are famed for their power, endurance, and gentle demeanor, making them ideal even for novice riders. Prior to our departure, you will receive a brief introduction to riding along with a safety briefing.

Next, we embark on a picturesque journey on horseback towards the Araltolgoi military base, traversing expansive valleys, gently rolling hills, and breathtaking mountain scenery. During our ride, we will take a break to savor a packed lunch in nature, enveloped by the pristine beauty of the Altai region.

On our return trip, we will visit a local nomadic family, where you will experience genuine Mongolian hospitality. This visit gives you a unique chance to understand their traditional lifestyle, everyday practices, and profound bond with nature.

Day-4 Baga Turgen Waterfall| Beautifull Nature with Waterfall

Today, we will travel to the picturesque Baga Turgen Valley. On the journey, we will stop at a fascinating historical site before heading to the trailhead.

Starting from the parking area, we will embark on a 3 km hike through tranquil forested areas, leading us to the stunning Baga Turgen Waterfall, which plunges from a height of about 15 meters. After taking in the breathtaking views and savoring the fresh mountain air, we will return to camp.

In the evening, if the weather is favorable, we will gather around a campfire and relish the ambiance under the stars.

Day-6 Altai Tavan Bogd Base Camp| Scenic Altai Landscapes

Today, we delve into one of the most stunning regions of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, where Mongolia, China, and Russia converge.

We start by driving to the sacred Presidential Ovoo, a significant cultural and spiritual location. From there, we embark on a 7 km round-trip trek to the impressive Potanin Glacier. Throughout the journey, you will find yourself surrounded by towering mountains, including Khuiten Peak (4,373 m), the tallest peak in Mongolia.

After soaking in the breathtaking alpine views and untouched nature, we head back to camp for a tranquil evening amidst the wilderness.

Day-7 Visiting an Eagle Hunter Family & Return to Ölgii | Nomadic Culture

We begin our journey back to Ölgii, a beautiful city surrounded by stunning mountain ranges and rich cultural heritage. Along the way, we take a scenic route that showcases breathtaking landscapes and fascinating natural wonders. We visit a traditional Kazakh eagle hunter family, where you will have the unique opportunity to learn about the ancient art of eagle hunting, a skill passed down through generations. You'll not only observe the intricate training techniques used but also experience the lifestyle of these extraordinary nomads who harmoniously blend their cultural traditions with the demands of modern life.

In the afternoon, we finally arrive in Ölgii town, a welcoming spot filled with local charm. Check into your hotel, where the courteous staff will greet you with a warm smile and assist you with any needs you may have. After settling in, enjoy a hot shower to refresh yourself, followed by a moment of relaxation with a comfortable rest, allowing you to gather your thoughts and reflect on the incredible adventures of the week spent exploring the majestic Altai Mountains.

Day-4 Baga Turgen Waterfall| Beautifull Nature with Waterfall

After breakfast, we transfer you to Ölgii Airport for your morning flight to Ulaanbaatar. It’s a great opportunity to reflect on the adventures you’ve had during your stay from the incredible landscapes to the unique culture you've experienced.

Day-5 Altai Tavan Bogd Mountain | Best Experience You That you Will get

After we finish breakfast, we set off on our journey into the depths of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. The drive carries us over rivers, lofty mountain passes, and stunning landscapes, including the well-known White River (Tsagaan Gol), also referred to as the Yak Milk River.

As we proceed further, the vistas continually change, presenting some of the most magnificent and isolated views in Mongolia. Towering mountains, expansive valleys, and unspoiled nature create a memorable experience.

By the time evening arrives, we reach our campsite close to the national park, enveloped by untouched nature.

Essential Packing List – 8 Days in Tavan Bogd National Park

Crucial Documents:

  • Passport – Tautravel will need copies before you arrive in Mongolia for border area patrol permits and domestic flights.

Footwear:

  • Sturdy waterproof hiking boots – Comfort is crucial. Lightweight, good ankle support and waterproofing are highly recommended. If your current boots are comfortable with a good grip, there's no need to buy new ones.

Clothing:

  • Waterproof outerwear – A poncho or waterproof jacket and trousers. A poncho that covers both your bag and legs is generally sufficient.

  • Warm layers for sleeping – Fleece, long pants, a woolen hat, gloves.

  • Layered walking attire – Zip-off trousers, fleece, T-shirts for variable weather conditions.

Personal Essentials:

  • Plastic bags – To keep your belongings dry.

  • Small towel & toiletries – Travel-sized shampoo, shower gel, wet wipes (cold showers are available at campsites).

  • Personal medication & first aid supplies – Bandaids, Imodium, Panadol, rehydration sachets. The trek leader carries a first aid kit.

  • Snacks – Chocolates, chips, biscuits, energy bars (extras are optional).

  • Flashlight – Very important; remember to bring spare batteries.

  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat

  • Mosquito repellent

  • Antiseptic hand gel

To confirm your booking for the 8-day Tavan Bogd National Park tour, we require a deposit to secure your spot. The remaining balance can be paid in Mongolia, preferably in cash (USD) to avoid high credit card surcharges.

Payment Options:

  1. Deposit (Recommended): Paid in advance via bank transfer to secure your reservation.

  2. Final Payment: Payable in cash upon arrival in Ölgii. Please note that ATMs in Western Mongolia have limited withdrawal limits, so cash is recommended.

  • Your passport copies are required in advance for border area permits and domestic flight bookings.

  • Payment in full confirms your participation and allows us to finalize accommodation, transport, and guides.

  • Credit card payments may incur additional fees; cash in USD is preferred for convenience.

We aim to make the payment process as simple and secure as possible. Please contact us if you need assistance with the deposit transfer.

Cancellation Policy

•In case the cancellation is made by the tourism company, the payment will be returned to you in the same amount.
•In case of cancellation by tourists, it must be notified at least 1 month in advance. If any prepayments to hotels or similar services have not been made, your payment will be refunded %80. However, if the payments have already been made, your money will not be refunded. •No Tourism health insurance will be provided.
